🎨 How to color it

Color the rose petals in deep coral and blush pink, the veined leaves in emerald and olive, and the curling banner in warm cream. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow leaf veins and inner petal spirals, then switch to a broader pencil stroke or marker for the open ribbon. Try shading the banner’s folded ends slightly darker, as if the rose is leaning over a little stage curtain.

Every afternoon, Tavi polished the cream banner above the tiny puppet stage until it squeaked under his sleeve. He wanted the opening-night sign to stay perfectly blank until the director painted the title, but the rose vines kept tickling his ears with dry, leafy whispers.

Until one day, Tavi heard a muffled snort from the place nobody checked: the rolled-under lip of the banner. Because of that, he tugged one corner and found a folded paper flea wearing a crooked hat. Because of that, the flea sprang out, scattering rose-scented confetti and shouting, “Rehearsal needs more ridiculous!”

The puppets laughed so hard their wooden jaws clacked like spoons. Tavi chased the flea through the leaves, but every hop made another hidden joke pop free. Finally, he pinned the funniest one to the blank banner for everyone to read. If you spot that wide ribbon under the rose, keep watch; Tavi’s sleeve may squeak there again.
