🎨 How to color it

Use rosy pink for the worm, chocolate brown for the dirt mound, bright green for the big leaves, and apple red on the little apple core. The worm’s wide bands and the mound’s big spaces are perfect for chunky crayons, and it is okay if color hops over the lines. Try making each worm band a little different pink, like a tiny wiggle-rainbow.

Under the leafy path, Darla pushed dirt: shove-shove, pat-pat. She wanted one snug nap spot, just her size, smelling like rain and roots.

Then bump! An apple core rolled in and whispered, “Hide me, please.” Darla giggled and piled dirt over it. The dirt grew soft and round. Warm. Safe. Perfect. Darla curled inside and said, “This is my place.” Ever since, worms make cozy little mounds when they find where they belong. Next time you see this mound, do you know the secret under it?
