Every day, before breakfast, Olin held a smooth gray stone to his ear. It made a tiny mmm, like a bee dreaming in a jar, and Olin followed the sound down the hillside path.
Until one morning, the stone was quiet. Because of that, Olin walked slower past the wet grass and white daisies. Because of THAT, he heard the path itself humming under his shoes. At the tallest rose, the stone warmed in his palm. “Here?” Olin whispered.
