🎨 How to color it

Color the two open roses in coral pink and deep raspberry, the unopened buds in soft peach, the serrated leaves in fern green, and the little berry stems in golden yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the thin leaf veins and nested rose petals, shading from the outer petal edges toward each spiral center. Try making the crossed stems two slightly different greens so the bouquet looks hand-tied instead of perfectly matched.

Behind the warm pipes of the apartment stairwell, Ori folded a scrap of grocery paper into a cone and whispered the rules of a brand-new game: find five secret shapes, tie them together, and leave them where only the right person would understand. The paper smelled like oranges and dust. Ori wanted a birthday prize for Aunt Ren, who always guessed every surprise too early.

So Ori slipped up to the rooftop, where the wind rattled the metal door and the tar felt soft under one sneaker. The rooftop roses grew in tubs beside old antennas: two wide blooms, two tight buds, saw-toothed leaves, berry dots, and skinny sprigs that tickled Ori’s wrist. A thorn nicked one finger. “Fair price,” Ori muttered, sucking the sting and picking more carefully. The stems crossed and bumped until Ori wrapped them with a shoelace and tucked the orange-smelling paper around them.

Back downstairs, Aunt Ren found the bundle on her chair and did not guess at all. She traced each clue shape with one finger, smiling slower and slower, like sunrise on brick. Ori stood behind the door, proud down to both socks. Next time you spot crossed stems and tiny berry dots, keep the secret: that bouquet began behind the warm pipes.
