🎨 How to color it

Color the stocking stripes candy-cane red and snowy white, the holly leaves deep green, the berries bright crimson, and the gift tag golden yellow. The wide stocking bands are perfect for chunky crayons, while the tiny berry circles and ribbon loops may need a careful pencil tip. Try making the pale hanging ornaments icy blue so the warm stocking and red berries pop forward.

The story behind this coloring page

The Tag That Giggled — Under the pine branch, Zibby swung by her hook and tried to catch a tiny sound: hee-hee, hic! Read the full story →

Under the pine branch, Zibby swung by her hook and tried to catch a tiny sound: hee-hee, hic! The striped cuff brushed the needles, which smelled sharp and snowy, and the round ornaments clinked like spoons in a cup. Zibby peeked under the holly leaves, around the bow loops, and between the red berries. “Who is laughing in my branches?” Zibby whispered, swaying left, then right, then left again.

The blank tag bumped Zibby’s side with a papery flap-flap. At last, the tag folded open like a little door, and out popped a silver sticker mustache, curled at both ends. It had been hiding there all evening, tickling the tag whenever the stocking moved. Zibby stuck the mustache across the lowest stripe and wiggled proudly while the ornaments clinked harder. If you spot that blank tag, maybe it is still trying not to giggle: hee-hee, hic!
