🎨 How to color it

Color the rose petals cherry red, the curled center a soft pink, the two veined leaves leafy green, and the short stem olive green. Use chunky crayons or markers to fill the big petal shapes, and don’t worry if little hands hop over the thick black lines. For a playful twist, make each layer of petals a slightly different red, from dark on the outside to light in the middle.

The story behind this coloring page

The Rose That Giggle-Sniffed — Every day, Pippa tiptoed down the garden path to sniff the biggest rose before breakfast. Read the full story →

Every day, Pippa tiptoed down the garden path to sniff the biggest rose before breakfast. The petals smelled like jam and rain, and she always whispered, “Good morning, fancy flower.”

Until one day, the rose sniffed back. “A-choo-hoo!” squeaked a tiny striped beetle, popping from the curled middle. Because of that, Pippa leaned closer, and because of THAT, the beetle told a joke so wiggly that the leaves shook. “Why did the worm wear a hat?” it chirped. “Because his hair was underground!”

Pippa laughed so hard she forgot breakfast. Finally, she gave the beetle a crumb and promised to bring better jokes tomorrow. If you peek into the rose’s curly center, you might catch the next “A-choo-hoo!” before breakfast.
