🎨 How to color it

Color the daisy petals creamy white, the dotted center golden yellow, the two big leaves spring green, and the little flowers pink and purple. Use chunky crayons or markers for the wide petals and leaves, then tap the center dots carefully with a pencil or marker tip. Try making the tall grass two different greens so the daisy looks like it is popping up from a busy meadow.

Every morning, Pippa the beetle rolled crumb bits through the meadow before the ants woke up, hiding breakfast under grass blades with a soft scritch-scritch. Nobody saw her, which was the point. Until one day, a sneezy wind blew her biggest oat crumb straight up the tall daisy stem.

Because of that, Pippa climbed past the tickly leaves and peeked into the daisy’s bumpy yellow middle. There, where nobody thought to look, sat a tiny hollow packed with sunflower seeds. Because of THAT, she tucked her oat crumb beside them and whispered, “Snack shelf!” Finally, when the ants marched by sniff-sniffing the sweet air, breakfast rained down from the daisy like a silly secret. Next time you see those little dots in the flower’s middle, would you check for Pippa’s hidden snack shelf?
