Every day, Winnie the daisy counted the checkerboard picnic cloth beside her patch and tried to make exactly one square more cheerful before the lunch whistle. She had set herself a very grand challenge: no square could stay boring by noon. She shook pollen into stripes, tapped leaves into polka dots, and whispered, “Operation snicker-sprinkle!” while the cloth smelled like grass, lemonade, and sun-warmed cotton.
Until one day, a breeze flipped the whole cloth over—flap!—and Winnie saw the blank backside stretching like a homework page. Because of that, she flicked seeds in loopy trails, and three little daisies copied her with giggles. Because of that, the ladybugs marched through the loops, leaving dots, while the breeze curled the corners into rainbow swoops.
