🎨 How to color it

Color the long-neck dinosaur soft meadow green, the three round back spots butter yellow, the big lowercase d sky blue, and the fern leafy green. Chunky crayons are perfect for the dinosaur’s wide belly, long neck, and tall letter; little hands can scribble right up to the bold black lines. For extra fun, make the fern fronds two greens, one light and one dark, like a secret dino-made paintbrush.

The story behind this coloring page

Dewey’s Tall D Secret — In the fern classroom, hush-hush, Dewey wanted to make one giant D all by himself. He pressed a bendy fern in mud—squish!—but it flopped into a puddle shape. Read the full story →

In the fern classroom, hush-hush, Dewey wanted to make one giant D all by himself. He pressed a bendy fern in mud—squish!—but it flopped into a puddle shape.

“I need a tall back,” Dewey whispered. He stood his long neck beside the mud circle and patted it smooth with his little claws. Tap, tap, proud pat!

The D stood tall. Ever since, dino Ds have a round belly and one high back. Next time you see that big letter by Dewey’s fern, can you spot the proud pats?
