At the soft sky stand, the cold scoop bell went ting-ting, and Lumi pressed both feet into the warm grass. She wanted one cloudberry scoop, the pink kind that smelled like rain and berries, but the counter sat past the fluttering napkin flags. Lumi took one small step out. Then another.
A tiny sugar-moth landed on the waffle cones. “Hold this?” it whispered, pushing over the biggest cone with a papery crinkle. The scoop rose higher than Lumi’s nose, sprinkled with heart seeds. It was heavy, and one cold drip tickled her toes, but she hugged it close and walked back slowly.
