🎨 How to color it

Color the lily-of-the-valley bells soft white with pale green stems, the ferns bright spring green, the tree trunks warm brown, and the mushroom cap honey tan. Use crayons or markers for the big tree trunks and stump, then switch to a sharp green pencil for the tiny fern leaflets and little bell edges. Try making the path a very light sandy beige so the drooping flower bells look like they are glowing in the quiet woods.

The story behind this coloring page

Under a curled fern, Vera tapped her acorn spoon against an empty lily bell. Plink? No sound at all. She needed one clear dew note before the evening beetles marched through the woods. So she stepped out from her soft moss nook, past cool tree roots and scratchy grass. The forest smelled like wet bark. A thorn caught her blue thread belt, and she had to leave it fluttering there. Still, she waited by each bowed flower. Drip? Nothing.

At the old stump, a small mushroom shivered in the hush. Vera almost walked by, because everybody looked inside flowers for dew. Then she heard the tiniest ting from underneath the mushroom cap. “There you are,” she whispered. A round drop hung there, bright as a secret. Vera carried it home in her spoon, and the lily bell sang clear and sweet. Next time you spot the mushroom by the stump, can you keep Vera’s secret waiting bell?
