🎨 How to color it

Use soft chestnut for the pony, rosy red for the big apple, fresh green for the leaf and grass, and sunny yellow for the mane and tail. For little hands, chunky crayons can fill the pony’s round body and the apple’s big shape first, while staying inside the lines is optional. Try making the apple two colors, red on one side and pink on the other, like it is glowing beside the happy pony.

Under the quiet apple tree, Nola pushed one big apple with her nose. Thump. She patted grass around it with her hoof. Pat-pat. She had made a new game: apple-pat, apple-stay.

The apple rolled away. Nola tucked soft grass closer. It smelled sweet and green. “Stay, round friend,” she whispered. This time the apple sat snug and still.

Ever since then, apples in that tiny orchard rest in little grass nests when ponies make them by hand. Can you find Nola’s proud apple-pat spot?
