Every evening, Bram set his tiny blue candle on the table and watched its flame wiggle like a firefly. He saved it for his birthday wish, cupping his paws around the warm wax smell while the room went shhh.
Until one day, the flame flickered toward the ceiling ribbons and made the silver banner sparkle. Because of that, Bram tied three balloons to his chair; because of THAT, the shiny stars on the wall winked back like sleepy comets. His chest felt too full to hold.
“Come see!” Bram called. Friends padded in, soft thump, thump, thump, and everyone leaned close. Bram made his wish out loud instead: more glow for everybody. Next time you spot the little candle, can you tell which way its firefly wiggle is pointing?
