🎨 How to color it

Layer moss green on the stegosaurus body, amber on the leaf-shaped back plates, sandy beige on the stones, and deep emerald on the ferns and palms. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny scales, triangles, spirals, and leaf veins, working one patterned section at a time so the bold outline stays clean. Try a warm yellow-to-peach glow around the sun, then let the cool greens of the jungle make the dinosaur feel extra vivid.

The story behind this coloring page

Every day before the heat rang in the cicadas, Soren crossed the palm jungle to wake the stone vents with his tail. Steam kept the bitter-vine moths away, and the path smelled of wet fern and warm dust. Until one day, a silver beetle skidded from a split rock and tapped his toe with a sound like rain on a shell.

Because of that, Soren left the shortest trail and pushed into the thorn ferns, where his plates brushed leaves into whispering showers. Because of that, the sun caught the amber edges of his back and flashed a path for someone he could not see. “Follow the light,” he called, though only the beetle heard him. A small caravan of night-lizards slipped past the bitter vines, their baskets packed with cool moonfruit.

At dusk, Soren reached the vents late, scratched from snout to tail, and struck the stones anyway. Puff—puff—puff, the steam rose, smelling of mineral rain. No lizard thanked him; they were already gone. Still, one moonfruit waited in the ferns, glowing where the silver beetle had tapped his toe with a sound like rain on a shell.
