🎨 How to color it

Layer deep jade and moss green across the T. rex, use golden yellow for the round sunbursts, and set the mountains in cool blue-gray with rust-brown tree trunks. Because the dinosaur is packed with small fern fronds, petals, teeth, and tail curves, use sharp colored pencils and color one patterned section at a time. Try a warm glow inside each circular sun motif, then keep the surrounding jungle cooler so those hidden suns seem to shine from the dinosaur itself.

The story behind this coloring page

The Suns Inside Soren — Before the high leaves opened, Soren followed the last ribbon of warmth through the mountain jungle. Read the full story →

Before the high leaves opened, Soren followed the last ribbon of warmth through the mountain jungle. He had felt dawn slip away too quickly for seven mornings, leaving the fern beds silver and cold, and curiosity tugged him farther than hunger ever had. The air smelled of wet bark and stone dust. Above him, two pale suns sat behind mist, quiet as closed eyes.

He searched under roots, inside trumpet flowers, and between the teeth of a fallen cliff. Nothing. Then a moth with wings like folded paper landed on his shoulder and tapped three times: tick, tick, tick. Soren bent his head. Beneath the dark swirls of his own skin, something answered with a soft gold pulse. He had never thought to look there.

The warmth had been hiding in the round marks on his hide, waiting for him to notice. When Soren breathed out, each little circle filled with light, gentle and steady, and the mist loosened from the trees. Ever since, mandala dinosaurs carry small suns in their patterns, so the morning can find its way back through the high leaves.
