At the end of Acorn Lane, Luna shook her mailbag. Swish, swish—empty except for one bumpy envelope with no stamp. She wanted to finish before the lamp post buzzed on, so she left her cozy mail cart and hurried past the lilac hedge, where bees hummed like tiny engines.
The sidewalk was hot under her shoes. A gust snatched her hat ribbon and tossed it into a puddle—plip! Luna sighed, wiped off the mud, and opened the blue mailbox anyway. Inside, where nobody ever looked, a stack of star stickers twinkled beside a note: FOR THE PERSON WHO BRINGS SMILES.
“Then everybody gets one,” Luna whispered. She stamped the bumpy envelope, stuck stars on the rest, and walked back laughing so hard the lilacs seemed to shake with her secret. If you peek at the envelope by the mailbox, can you guess who gets the first star?
