Every afternoon, Zazzy raced around Party Grove and touched each red balloon before the music box played its last plink. She wanted to beat her own best dash: five birthday sparkles delivered, no stops, no snorts.
Until one day, the wind flipped her cone hat over one ear and sent a candle rolling off the left cake. Because of that, Zazzy skidded through crunchy confetti to catch it. Because of THAT, her hoof bumped the balloon strings, and three balloons bobbed after her like round, wiggly ducks.
“Come on, birthday!” Zazzy laughed, and instead of racing alone, she pranced between both cakes with the balloons tugging high and the music box chiming bright. Everyone followed, clapping the beat. Next time you spot the balloons above her tail, can you hear the last happy plink?
