Every day, Rizzo sprinted the sun path between the acacia trees, tapping three stones with his toes so the meerkeetles would pop up and laugh at noon. Click-click-click went his claws on the dusty ground, and warm grass smell puffed behind him like toast.
Until one day, the third stone answered, “Achoo!” Rizzo skidded so hard his tail feathers drew a curly stripe in the dirt. Because of that, the meerkeetles popped up early, wearing seed shells as helmets. Because of THAT, every grasshopper in the savanna began chirping the wrong hour, and the sun birds flapped in dizzy circles.
Rizzo wanted the noon giggle back. He chased his own skinny shadow across the path, sure it was hiding the trouble. At last he pounced—not on the stone, but on the dark patch beneath his belly. Out rolled a tiny tickle-gourd, covered in dust and full of trapped giggles. “Share them!” squeaked the gourd. Rizzo cracked it open with one claw, and laughter burst over the hills like fizzy light. If you trace the path under his flying feet, can you spot where the dusty ground might still remember click-click-click?
