🎨 How to color it

Color the tiger golden orange with deep black stripes, the pond water teal, the lotus flowers soft pink, and the hanging vines leafy green. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiger’s narrow face stripes and the jagged palm leaves, then switch to smooth side-strokes for the wide ripples around its body. Add a secret-looking glow by blending pale yellow around one lotus flower while keeping the rest of the pond cool blue-green.

The story behind this coloring page

Rafi and the Pond Whisper — Under the hot green hush, Rafi needed one smooth reed to make a whistle for his den door. Read the full story →

Under the hot green hush, Rafi needed one smooth reed to make a whistle for his den door. The best reeds grew across the pond, where the water looked dark as brewed tea and vines creaked overhead. He stepped in anyway. Mud squeezed between his toes, cold and silky, and a frog made a plunk so sudden that Rafi nearly swallowed a whisker.

Halfway across, a floating lily pad bumped his nose. Beneath it, something clicked. Rafi lifted the pad and found a tiny shell tied with grass, dry inside a pocket of air. A rolled leaf waited there, smelling of rain. It said, “Blow once when moon-moths arrive.”

Rafi took the reed, but he carried the shell home too, held high above the ripples. That night, his first whistle sounded small, clear, and brave. If you follow the lily pads with your eyes, can you guess which one hid the pond whisper in the hot green hush?
