Every rainy morning, Darla stepped where the drops tapped loudest: plip on leaves, plop on stones, plunk in puddles. She wanted the path to tell her where to stand when the whole wet world began to sing.
Until one day, one puddle answered, “Here.” The sound was small and round, like a bell under water. Because of that, Darla lifted one boot and stomped. Splash! Because of THAT, the daisies nodded, the cloud smiled wider, and every raindrop seemed to fall in time.
Finally, Darla stopped searching and danced right there, warm-hoofed and rain-cooled, exactly where the puddle had called. Next time you see her boot splash, can you hear the plip, plop, plunk?
