Every evening, Pippa tapped her boot heels in the moon meadow and listened for one ground-spark. She had set herself a tiny challenge: no flying until she heard the smallest twinkle under the grass. Crick-crick went the bugs. Swish-swish went her broom. Nothing answered.
Until one evening, her Witch’s Brew bottle gave a soft bloop and rolled beside her toes. Because of that, Pippa bent low to catch it; because of THAT, she tipped upside down, boots in the air, and heard the stones sing, “Ping!” The meadow smelled like minty bubbles and cool dirt. “I’m right here,” Pippa whispered. If you spot the stars near her boots, maybe one is still pinging where she belongs.
