🎨 How to color it

Give the wizard’s robe a deep violet with golden stars, the dragon spring-green scales, and the jagged cave rocks cool slate gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the robe stars, dragon scales, and cracked mountain lines, saving broader marker strokes for the sky and distant peaks. Try making the wand sparks rainbow-bright so they pop between the wizard’s open hand and the dragon’s curious face.

Past the pine cliffs, Bramble practiced his dragon greeting in a voice no louder than a teacup. “Good afternoon, esteemed scaly neighbor,” he whispered, and his wand made a tiny fizz-pop that smelled like toasted sugar. A young dragon blinked from a stone perch by the cave, polite as a librarian, while Bramble’s knees knocked softly inside his starry robe.

He tried again, adding a bow. Pebbles ticked down the rocks. The cave answered, “Good afternoon, squeaked the brave hat!” Bramble froze. The dragon snorted smoke rings that smelled of cinnamon and hiccuped with laughter.

Then Bramble noticed his tall hat wiggling. Tucked under the brim, where nobody had thought to look, a thumb-sized echo-sprite was repeating every word in a grand squeaky voice. Bramble swallowed one brave breath and held out his hand. “Would you like to say hello properly?” he asked.

The sprite hopped to his palm, the dragon lowered its nose, and together they made the cave ring: “Hello!” Next time you spot Bramble’s wand sparks, listen for the sneaky little hello hiding in the rocks.
