The story behind this coloring page

The Cup That Held Cheers — Every day, Arden pressed a plain paper cup to his ear and listened to the tiny hush inside it. Read the full story →

Every day, Arden pressed a plain paper cup to his ear and listened to the tiny hush inside it. He wanted to save one perfect birthday cheer for his sister Mira, the kind that would make the air fizz like lemonade, so he carried the cup carefully past the park grass and the warm smell of cupcakes.

Until one day, a bold wind slipped through the trees and flipped the cup from his hand. Because of that, the cup rolled under the picnic blanket, bumped the basket, and knocked one candle crooked. Because of that, everyone leaned close at once—Mira with her star balloon, Dad with frosting on his thumb, even the crows clicking in the branches—and their worried sounds tumbled into the cup together.

Arden picked it up. The cup did not hold one perfect cheer anymore. It held a wobbly laugh, a candle gasp, a balloon squeak, and Mira whispering, “Again.” So Arden raised it high, and everyone sent their joy into it until the trees seemed to rustle back. Next time you spot the little cup near the cupcakes, imagine the tiny hush inside it, ready to burst.
