🎨 How to color it

Give the panda soft white fur with charcoal ears and paws, the striped party hat sunny yellow and coral, the balloons sky blue and lavender, and the bamboo fresh green. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the panda’s big round face, balloons, and cake plate, and don’t worry if little hands color over the thick lines. Try making the candle flame glow with yellow in the middle and orange around the edge, like the panda just lit it.

The story behind this coloring page

Beni’s Candle-Clap Game — Under the soft clack-clack of bamboo, Beni patted a tiny cake on his tray. Read the full story →

Under the soft clack-clack of bamboo, Beni patted a tiny cake on his tray. He had invented Candle-Clap: make one paper flag, clap once, and carry the cake back before the candle dripped.

The paper was across the grove, beside the swishy leaves. Beni waddled out, squish-squash through cool moss. A balloon string tickled his ear, and one sticky gumdrop rolled off the cake. “Wait for me, little sweet!” he whispered.

He picked a yellow scrap, folded it with his own paws, and tucked it beside the candle. Back on his mat, the flag stood wobbly but bright. Beni clapped once—plap! Next time you see the tiny candle, can you spot the proud little flag he made while the bamboo went clack-clack?
