🎨 How to color it

Color the smiling car cherry red, its wings silver, the futuristic towers teal and violet, and the curly clouds pale lavender. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow skyscraper windows, wheel rings, and star points, then switch to smooth marker fills on the car body and wide wings. Try a sunrise gradient behind the skyline, fading from peach near the rooftops to sky blue around the highest clouds.

Before the aero-city had morning traffic, a little sky car named Tova carried one sealed laugh in her glove box. She wanted to deliver it to the tallest dome before sunrise, because the city’s engines had gone silent and the towers smelled like cold metal after rain.

Halfway above the spires, a cloud uncurled into a tiny keeper with star-dust eyebrows. “Trade me that laugh,” it whispered, “and I’ll show you what your wheels are really for.” Tova’s tires tingled. She opened the glove box a crack. The laugh popped out—ha!—bounced off a round window, rang through a needle tower, and woke every rooftop bell.

Joy burst so wide that Tova could not hold her bumper straight. Her mouth curved up, and the cloud-keeper stamped the smile there with a sparkle. Ever since, sky cars grin when they fly, so their joy has somewhere to shine. Next time you spot one above the towers, can you find the first sparkle that kept Tova’s secret?
