🎨 How to color it

Give the angel’s robe a soft ivory, the wide wings a pale gold, the shepherds’ cloaks earthy browns and blues, and the bright star a clear yellow. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big robes, hills, and sheep, saving a sharper pencil for the small starbursts and curled scroll. Try making the night sky deep blue around the yellow star so the angel and the patient shepherds glow.

The story behind this coloring page

The Ribbon That Waited — Every night, Sela tied a plain wool ribbon around her wrist and waited for the smallest lamb to take its first brave step. Read the full story →

Every night, Sela tied a plain wool ribbon around her wrist and waited for the smallest lamb to take its first brave step. The ribbon was scratchy and warm, and it smelled like lanolin and hillside grass. “Not yet,” she whispered when the lamb only blinked in the starlight.

Until one night, the sky rang like silver bowls. Because of that, the sheep lifted their heads. Because of that, three shepherds shaded their eyes as a bright messenger spoke of a baby in Bethlehem. Sela untied the ribbon at last and tucked it beside the lamb. The lamb stepped forward, soft hoof by soft hoof, toward the road. If you search the hills, can you find the little watcher whose waiting was finally ready?
