🎨 How to color it

Try copper and cream uniforms for the two leaping players, a teal-and-gold volleyball, ruby flags, and warm sandstone towers around the court. Use sharp colored pencils for the tight sunburst rays, net squares, and stepped art-deco borders, turning the page as you follow each long line outward. For a dramatic twist, fade the sunrise from pale lemon near the ball to deep coral at the top while keeping the court floor cool gray.

Every evening, Rafa wound the brass court clock and waited for a serve to meet the last stripe of sun; every evening, the ball arrived early, late, or with theatrical squeaks. Until one day, a pocket-sized wind spirit in a referee’s cap perched on the net and blew the ball sideways, smelling of rain and peppermint. Because of that, both players hovered, hands raised, while Rafa refused to whistle. Because of that, the spirit grew bored, sneezed, and sent the ball exactly through the golden ray. “At last,” Rafa murmured, and let the clock laugh first.
