Every day, Remy rocked in the party corner and jingled the little paper tag tied to one gift bow. It said BABY, but to Remy it meant “Bring All Bows Yourself.” Crinkle-crinkle! He wanted every lonely present to have a ribbon before the guests came.
Until one day, the gold bow popped off the smallest box and slid under the rocker. Because of that, Remy kicked his socky feet and bumped the cradle forward. Because of THAT, the star balloons bobbed, the bunting flapped, and the box rolled out with a soft thump.
“Got you!” Remy whispered, patting the bow back on. Nobody clapped. Nobody even saw. But the smallest gift looked ready to smile, and next time you spot that tiny BABY tag, you’ll know why it crinkle-crinkled.
