Under the cottony cloud decal, Otto tapped one foam star against his toy truck. Tap, tap, shh. He had invented Star-Load: carry a star to the quietest place and listen for what it told him. The truck wheels bumped over the rug, away from his soft mat. Crumbs tickled his knees, and one block tower tipped with a clack.
Otto paid with a tiny sock, lost under the shelf, but he kept going. Behind the blocks, something whispered, “Home.” It was a second star sticker, stuck to the truck bed like it had waited there all morning.
