🎨 How to color it

Color the castle stones warm ivory, the fluttering flags ruby red, the bridge soft brown, and the backpack deep teal with silver buckles. Use sharp colored pencils for the small brick patches, windows, straps, and path stones, then switch to broader strokes for the hills, sky, and stream. Try a sunrise glow behind the round sun and clouds so the tall center tower feels like the first stop on an adventure.

At the bend in the forest path, Vera tapped her smooth pebble against her backpack buckle—click, clack—and invented a game: step only on round stones until she reached the castle mailbox. She wanted to mail one tiny postcard all by herself. The bridge looked farther than it had from the picnic hill, and the stream below made a cold shushing sound.

One stone wobbled under her sneaker. Vera caught the rail, cheeks hot, and her pebble slipped through the boards. Plink. A small brown trout nosed it toward a shallow place, but the pebble stuck beside a silver bottle cap. “You can keep it,” Vera whispered, trading her lucky weight for the shiny cap. She carried that cap to the mailbox, tucked it inside the postcard, and walked back lighter, hearing click, clack in her steps without holding anything at all. If you follow the round path stones, can you find where Vera’s first brave step began?
