🎨 How to color it

Color the ballerina’s leotard rose pink, her tutu pale lavender, the wooden floor honey brown, and the tall mirror frame soft silver. Use sharp colored pencils for the shoe ribbons, hair strands, and wavy tutu edge, then fill the larger wall panels with smooth, light strokes. Try a faint sky-blue reflection inside the mirror so her lifted arm feels like it is reaching into extra light.

Every day, Calla tapped the recital rhythm with her pointe shoe against the studio floor: click, brush, slide. She wanted the whole class to use it for the festival finale, but the old room swallowed the sound, hiding it under the hum of pipes and the dusty lemon smell of polish.

Until one day, her long arabesque sent a bright flash across the tall mirror. Behind its frame, where nobody ever looked, a tiny brass latch winked. Calla tugged. The mirror swung open with a whoosh of cool air, and inside waited a narrow music closet packed with handbells, ribbons, and a drum no bigger than a pie.

Because of that, Calla beat the drum with a spare rosin brush. Because of THAT, the rhythm bounced through the walls, down the hall, and into every practice room. Dancers burst in, laughing, feet answering click, brush, slide. “Share it louder!” Calla cried, and the festival finale began early. Next time you spot her by the mirror, can you hear the room tapping back: click, brush, slide?
