🎨 How to color it

Color the ballerina’s bodice rose pink, her layered tutu pale peach, the tiny bows lavender, and her long sweeping hair honey gold. Use sharp colored pencils for the skirt pleats, ribbon loops, and hair strands, pulling each stroke in the same direction as the drawn lines. Try a soft blush-to-coral gradient on the tutu ruffles so the spinning skirt feels warmer at the edges.

High above the sleeping city, in the glass conservatory where orange trees breathed sweet peel into the dark, Reina tied the small bow at her bodice. It was plain white and a little frayed, not like the satin bows stitched around her skirt. She had brought it to this roof every morning for seven days, rising before the pigeons clapped their wings, waiting for the first sunbeam to find it.

She moved slowly between fern shadows, one foot whispering over the warm tile, then the other. Her hair lifted in the greenhouse breeze, and the ribbons on her tutu made quiet shush-shush sounds. “Not yet,” she whispered, smiling at the pale sky. Reina did not hurry the turn. She let her arms float up like stems searching for light.

Then dawn slid through the curved glass and touched the bow. The thread glowed gold. Not shiny—alive. A line of tiny letters appeared, stitched so finely she had never seen them: For the girl who waits long enough to hear morning. The bow had been her father’s last label from a crate of sunrise roses, saved and sewn there by her aunt. Reina turned once, wonder-soft and steady, and if you follow the ribbons around her skirt, you may find the little bow that kept dawn.
