🎨 How to color it

Give the hero’s cape a bold crimson, the armored suit bright cobalt and silver, and the tiny star sparks a warm gold. Use sharp colored pencils for the hair spikes, armor panels, and swirling energy ring so the narrow manga lines stay crisp. Try shading the cape from deep red at the folds to orange-red at the flying edges, with a cool blue-gray city below.

Every day after school, Joss taped copper thread into an old glove and tested it between the narrow towers of Skyway Canyon. He wanted the glove to make one clean thunder-pop, loud enough to warn window washers when the canyon winds changed. The glove smelled like rubber, glue, and the lemon candy he kept in his pocket. “Hold together,” he whispered, tightening the last crooked stitch.

Until one day, the wind grabbed his cape and snapped the glove awake. Because of that, a ring of bright sparks spun around his fist instead of popping. Because of that, the sparks pulled every loose street sign into a clanging silver whirl, and workers on the glass lifts shouted over the whoosh.

Joss dove between the towers, fist first, cape cracking like a sail. He twisted the copper thread around his thumb, the way he had built it, not the way the store heroes wore theirs. Finally, the spark-ring squeezed into one mighty BOOM that froze the wind and rang the warning bell. Next time you spot those little stars by his glove, see if they still smell faintly of rubber, glue, and lemon candy.
