🎨 How to color it

Color the classic car cherry red, the giant movie screen pale cream, the crescent moon butter yellow, and the drive-in speakers silver. Use smooth marker fills on the car’s broad trunk and screen, then switch to a sharp pencil for the thin chrome trim, tiny stars, and tail-light details. Try a deep blue-to-purple night sky behind the blank screen so the moon and scattered stars glow around it.

The story behind this coloring page

Quinn’s Last Reel — Under the popcorn-salt smell of the Moonspur Drive-In, Quinn rolled slowly down the gravel lane with a small tin canister tucked beneath his front seat. Read the full story →

Under the popcorn-salt smell of the Moonspur Drive-In, Quinn rolled slowly down the gravel lane with a small tin canister tucked beneath his front seat. He had polished his chrome until it caught every star. The canister looked plain, but inside was a film strip of every silly face the ticket-booth twins had made while selling snacks all summer. Quinn wanted to leave it for them before the midnight show began.

He parked in the back row and waited while engines ticked and speaker cords swung in the warm breeze. The giant screen stayed pale and empty. Then a tiny voice crackled from the nearest speaker. “Test reel ready?” it asked. Quinn’s hood ornament buzzed with surprise. The projectionist had found the canister already, and the twins were not in the booth at all—they were in the front row, still wearing popcorn aprons.

Across the screen flashed their crossed eyes, straw hats, and pretzel mustaches, bigger than clouds. No one knew who had brought the reel. Cars honked in secret applause, and Quinn kept his headlights low, happy as gravel under tires. If you spot the quiet car in the last row, maybe you can keep Quinn’s last reel a secret too.
