🎨 How to color it

Color the cookies golden brown, the chocolate chips dark cocoa, the milk glass pale blue, and the striped straw cherry red and white. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny chips and crumbs, then switch to broader strokes for the wide plate rim and folded napkin. Try making the center cookie a little warmer and brighter than the others, as if it just won the cookie stack spotlight.

Every afternoon, Quinn lined warm cookies on the baking table and tapped crumbs into neat little paths with the end of a spoon. She wanted to build a game no one could buy: Crumb-Track Challenge, where each cookie was an island and every scattered bit was a stepping-stone. The kitchen smelled like butter and toasted sugar, and the muffin pan clanked like armor when she bumped it with her elbow.

Until one day, a striped straw slipped from the milk glass—plunk!—and a cold splash raced across the table. Because of that, Quinn’s careful crumb paths turned into swirly rivers. Because of THAT, the game became wilder: players had to hop crumbs, dodge milk puddles, and rescue the “captain cookie” before it sailed off the plate. “New rule!” Quinn shouted, cheeks bright with flour. She pressed fresh crumbs into bridges, dried the spoon, and drew a finish line beside the folded napkin.

At last, her little brother took the first turn and whooped when his cookie crossed the rim without breaking. Quinn held up her own sugar-dusted hands, proud of every crooked bridge she had made. Next time you spot those crumbs around the plate, see if you can trace the daring route through Crumb-Track Challenge.
