🎨 How to color it

Layer the rabbit in warm taupe and chestnut, shade the angular roses in dusty coral, and use deep sage for the tall spear-shaped leaves. Because the rabbit’s body and the flower heads are broken into many small planes, use sharp colored pencils and fill one facet at a time to keep the black lines crisp. Try making each stepping stone a slightly different cool gray so the warm rabbit seems to belong in the center of the garden.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Garden Stones Have Edges — Between the roses that smelled faintly of rain on slate, Calder set himself a private challenge: cross the glass garden in one breath and leave no mark. Read the full story →

Between the roses that smelled faintly of rain on slate, Calder set himself a private challenge: cross the glass garden in one breath and leave no mark. You may know this, but gardens listen hardest when no one praises them. His paws met shards of moon-pale ground, click, click, softer than teeth on a cup, and each place he almost stepped away from rose into a flat, sure edge beneath him. “There,” he whispered, not moving. Ever since, garden stones keep their cut corners, holding the exact shape of a creature who has found where to stand.
