🎨 How to color it

Give the rabbit a soft sandy brown coat, the daisies bright white petals with golden centers, the thistles lavender-purple, and the tall grasses mixed meadow green. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow grass blades, fern teeth, and tiny flower centers, then switch to light, even strokes on the rabbit’s larger body shape. Try a pale peach glow inside the long ears and a few darker brown strokes along the chest fur to make the rabbit look warm in the meadow.

The story behind this coloring page

The Path Back to Clover — Under the ferny edge of the meadow, Briar pressed dry grass into his burrow until it rustled like paper. Read the full story →

Under the ferny edge of the meadow, Briar pressed dry grass into his burrow until it rustled like paper. The nest needed one last thing: blue clover, the kind that smelled sweet after rain. He slipped past the daisies, under thistle shadows, and into grass so tall it brushed cool lines along his ears.

A round stone moved. “Mind your paws,” said a tortoise, half hidden beneath a purple thistle head. Briar froze. The tortoise’s shell was cracked with mossy green, and a blue clover bloom lay caught on its rim. Briar tugged it free, but a thorn nicked his paw. He could have raced home with the prize. Instead, he nudged the clover toward the tortoise’s nose.

The tortoise blinked slowly. “Home smells like what stays with you,” she murmured. Briar carried back no blue clover, only its rain-sweet scent on his whiskers and a new softness in his step. His burrow waited under the ferns, exactly his size. Next time you spot him among the daisies, can you tell he has come back to the ferny edge of the meadow?
