🎨 How to color it

Color the dad’s sweater navy blue, the children’s pajamas lavender, mint, and sky blue, the crescent moon pale yellow, and the quilt stripes in soft rainbow colors. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big blanket bands, then add the little stars with a yellow pencil so they stay neat. Try making the round window a gentle night gradient, dark blue at the top fading lighter around the moon.

The story behind this coloring page

The Quilt That Glowed — Under the soft hum of the bedside lamp, Otis pressed his last paper star onto a cloth square. He wanted Dad to sew it into the family bedtime quilt before the story ended. Read the full story →

Under the soft hum of the bedside lamp, Otis pressed his last paper star onto a cloth square. He wanted Dad to sew it into the family bedtime quilt before the story ended. But the silver thread was in the hall basket, past the creaky floorboard and the cool, dark door.

Otis slid from the warm blankets. Creak! His toes met chilly wood, and his star bent at one point. In the basket, the thread shone like moonlight. “I made it,” he whispered.

Back in bed, Dad stitched the star while reading about a tiny rocket. The quilt felt bumpy where Otis’s patch joined the clouds. Next time you spot the little star on the blanket, you’ll know which one traveled through the creak and came home glowing.
