Under the planetarium dome, Mara shook the last envelope for the Earth Day seed table. Empty. The room smelled like cardboard, dust, and lemony floor wax, and outside the lobby window families were already lining up. She needed one more seed so every visitor could plant something before the show began.
A tiny rattle came from the dark star hall. Mara carried her flashlight past painted comets and silver paper moons, counting slowly when the old floor creaked. At the big globe room, a rainbow from the prism lamp curved over the model Earth. On the banner below it, one letter in EARTH DAY sat a little crooked. “That is not how we left you,” Mara whispered.
She tugged the loose letter and found a folded wax paper packet taped behind it. Inside lay seven milkweed seeds, silky as little tails. The packet crackled with a note: For the patient finder. Mara hurried back, gave the first seed to the child at the front of the line, and kept the empty packet in her pocket. If you study the banner, can you guess which letter hid the secret under the planetarium dome?
