Up the warm Galilee hill, Tavi ran with a hum in his chest and dust puffing under his sandals. He wanted to share his new clapping song with Jesus before the afternoon sun slid behind the trees. Three friends bounced beside him, pat-pat-clap, pat-pat-clap, while bees buzzed over the big white flowers. Jesus opened his arms, and the children’s song grew louder than the wind in the grass.
Then Tavi heard a tiny tap-tap-tap coming from the flower bed. He bent close. Under the broad leaves, smooth pebbles had been tucked in a circle, and a little beetle was knocking one with its shiny feet, keeping perfect time. “It knows our song!” Tavi laughed. Everyone clapped for the beetle, and Jesus laughed too, warm as sunlight. The joy spilled from hands to feet to flowers; next time you see those blossoms, can you find the secret drummer under the leaves?
