🎨 How to color it

Try a cobalt blue bike frame, charcoal tires, silver handlebars, leafy green trees, and pale aqua glass on the tall buildings. Use sharp colored pencils for the wheel spokes, brake cables, and “EV CHARGE” letters, then switch to markers for the big sidewalk tiles and building panels. Add a soft yellow glow around the charger plug to make this quiet city stop feel a little secretive.

Under the lobby awning, Arlo listened to rainwater tick from the glass roof and watched his e-bike blink one red bar. Map club met across the river in twenty minutes. He had never ridden to the downtown charger alone; the towers made the sidewalks feel like stone canyons, and the skybridge always groaned when buses passed under it. Still, he rolled out, palms prickly on the grips.

At the EV charger, a woman in a bright orange work vest was kneeling beside the cord. “Hear that?” she asked. From inside the machine came a tiny tap-tap, like a pencil in a drawer. Arlo wanted to back away, but the red bar blinked again. He paid his price in courage: he held the heavy plug steady while she opened a small service flap. A paper city map slid out, folded into a tight square, smelling of dust and warm wires.

“Old scavenger clue,” the woman said. “Nobody checked this station.” Arlo charged his bike and brought the map to club, not late after all, but with shaking hands and a grin he could not hide. Next time you see the plug by the front wheel, maybe you can hear that secret tap-tap under the towers.
