🎨 How to color it

Color the wheelbarrow warm chestnut brown, the daisies golden yellow with russet centers, the pumpkins bright orange, and the barn a classic red. Use sharp colored pencils for the many flower petals and leaf veins, then switch to broader strokes on the path and barn walls. Try alternating amber and burgundy on the front leaves so the full wheelbarrow feels extra autumnal.

The story behind this coloring page

Orla’s Wheelbarrow Welcome Game — Beside the mum beds, Orla tapped the wheelbarrow handle and whispered, “One bloom, one pumpkin, one leaf—home.” She had invented the Welcome Game: find three farm things that matched the cart, then roll back before the bell at the stand went clink-clink. Beside the mum beds, Orla tapped the wheelbarrow handle and whispered, “One bloom, one pumpkin, one leaf—home.” She had invented the Welcome Game: find three farm things that matched the cart, then roll back before the bell at the stand went clink-clink. The morning smelled like damp straw and squash vines, and the wooden handles felt smooth from many autumn hands.

She pushed past the fence, where the path turned pebbly under the wheel. At the pumpkin baskets she traded her shiniest yellow mum for a tiny striped squash. Near the barn, a gust stole her best maple leaf and sent it skittering into the dust. Orla’s throat pinched, but she tucked a plain brown leaf in its place and rolled home slowly, listening to the wheel bump-bump over stones.

When she reached the stand, the brown leaf looked perfect beside the orange squash and gold flowers, like the quiet middle of everything. The vendor tied a ribbon to the handle and said, “This cart knows its corner.” Orla smiled, because she did too. Next time you trace that winding farm path, can you hear the wheelbarrow whisper, one bloom, one pumpkin, one leaf—home?
