Under the tallest pine, Dax tucked a tiny paper ticket inside his cab. He wanted the box marked FROM: to ride before the clock went ding. “Secret stop,” he whispered, and the Christmas Express clicked away from its cozy station.
The round track went past cold snow smell, shiny balls, and branches that brushed the smokestack. Puff-puff! A gust snatched the ticket and sent it tumbling into his smoke. Dax had to slow down, hop out, and trade his red scarf to a low branch so he could reach it.
When he came back, the scarf made the branch jingle. Every ornament answered—ting, ting, ting—until the whole tree seemed to laugh. Dax still picked up the FROM: box, but now he hauled the TO: box too, because one happy sound needed company. If you peek at the train cars, can you keep Dax’s secret stop under the tallest pine?
