🎨 How to color it

Color the baby dragon mint green, the striped horns buttery yellow, the decorated eggshell lavender, and the floating stars bright gold. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the dragon’s big face and belly bands, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the tiny shell patterns and bubbles. Try making each broken eggshell piece a different pastel so the hatchling looks like it burst out of a rainbow egg.

Under the star meadow, Pip tucked his nose inside his warm, speckled egg and listened to peep-peep bubbles drift past. He wanted one smooth moon pebble for his nest, so he wiggled out through the crack and stepped into the cool grass, carrying his shiniest shell piece.

Halfway to the silver pebble patch, a tiny cloud-moth bumped his horn. Its wings trembled like paper in a whispery wind. “Cold,” it squeaked. Pip looked at his shell piece, then at the moth. He wrapped the moth in it and walked home without a pebble, toes chilly and heart warm. At dawn, soft moth dust sparkled inside his egg like moonlight. Can you spot the broken shell that became a blanket under the star meadow?
