Every evening, Tavi stacked flat stones beside the foothill trail, tap-tap-tap, making a sign for the moon hike. He wanted hikers to see his own handmade words at the first bend, but one day his best stone rolled under a pine root and vanished.
Because of that, Tavi dug with a spoon, crunching through cool dirt. Because of that, he found a tiny tin box packed with old blue beads, a stubby pencil, and a note: “Build it higher.” “I can do this!” Tavi shouted.
So he tied the beads to his sign, scratched bold letters into the stones, and set them where the trail curled toward the happy mountain. Next time you spot that winding path under the stars, can you find where Tavi’s tap-tap-tap began?
