🎨 How to color it

Layer deep teal through the two large interlocking loops, warm coral in the spiral curls, antique gold on the leaf border, and soft plum in the two small flower centers. Use sharp colored pencils and rotate the page often, following each narrow ribbon from one crossing to the next so the infinity path stays clean. For a quiet glow, shade the upper loop slightly lighter than the lower loop, as if a small lamp were moving around the circle.

Every evening, Sorrel mended the harbor bell’s frayed rope, then traced the brass floor lines with one finger: top curve, crossing, lower curve, return. Their private challenge was simple—complete the whole loop without lifting away before the tide bell breathed midnight. The bellroom smelled of salt and old metal, and gull cries thinned into the rafters.

Until one day, at the crossing, Sorrel’s finger trembled and stopped. Because of that, the silent bell gave one glassy hum. Because of that, the two flower bosses in the floor warmed like coals under frost, and the carved curls seemed to pull a path through Sorrel’s fear. “All right,” they whispered, voice small as a match.

They began again, slower. The line dipped, rose, vanished under itself, and returned. At the final curve, Sorrel did not feel brave; they felt present. Then they rang the tide bell once, and its note traveled out over black water, carrying the hush of the top curve, crossing, lower curve, return.
