🎨 How to color it

Color the cat a soft cream, the bow bubblegum pink, the hearts cherry red, and the little stars golden yellow. Use chunky crayons or markers for the cat’s big face first, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the tiny leaves, stripes, and curls around it. For a playful twist, make the matching shapes on the left and right different colors, as if this tidy mandala got into a little mischief.

In the doodle parlor, where pencils smelled like cedar and erasers went squeak-squeak, Pippa tapped her paws around a circle of hearts. She wanted to follow every tiny shape before the clock chimed snack. First came a leaf, then a star, then a curly curl. “No skipping!” she whispered.

A speck with six shiny boots popped out from behind a striped block. It was an ink beetle, wearing a dot of blue on its nose. Wherever it tiptoed, the shapes seemed to giggle into pairs: heart beside heart, leaf beside leaf, curl beside curl.

Pippa blinked. She had not been chasing a path at all. The beetle had been leading a parade around her whiskers! Pippa bowed, the beetle bowed back, and the clock chimed snack-snack. If you peek at the curls by Pippa’s cheeks, can you spot where the parade went squeak-squeak?
