At the frost market, Zumi stomped every morning to shake the jingle tree. Ding-ding, clack-clack! He wanted to make the star bell ring before the lantern parade. But one windy day, the star bell was gone, and the tree only went hush.
Because of that, Zumi peeked under candy-cane booths and sniffed the peppermint snow. Because of THAT, he had to climb onto the big round ornament he had always tiptoed around. His knees wibbled. “Just one brave step,” he whispered. Inside the ornament, something chimed—ting! Zumi popped out the hidden star bell and set it high.
