🎨 How to color it

Color the boy’s scrub top sky blue, the kitten soft orange, the medicine bottles mint green, and the pet carrier warm gray. Use sharp pencils for the stethoscope tubing, tiny bottle labels, and the kitten’s whisker area so those small shapes stay clear. Try a pale peach clinic wall with the paw poster in lavender to make the kitten and the boy’s bright face stand out.

Behind the quiet exam rooms, Taye stacked clean towels in a warm cupboard that smelled like soap and catnip. He wanted the smallest blue blanket for a shivering kitten, but the shelf was empty. So he stepped past the swinging door, across the cool tile, and into the supply nook where the pet carriers waited with their little metal doors clicking in the air vent.

The blue blanket was wedged under a gray carrier, and when Taye tugged, he scraped his knuckle on the latch. “Ouch—worth it,” he whispered. Something papery slid out with the blanket: a folded note tucked where nobody would check. In wobbly pencil it said, For the scared puppy who cries at night. Please let him have my scarf. Inside was a red scarf, soft as a rabbit’s ear.

Taye brought the blue blanket back to the kitten, then slipped the scarf into the puppy’s kennel before anyone saw. The crying slowed to a snuffle. If you peek at the carrier beside Taye, can you guess where the secret kindness had been hiding, under the smallest blue blanket?
