Every day, Pippa tapped her eggshell: tap-tap, scratch-scratch. She wanted to paint it herself before she popped out, using berry juice, grass smudges, and a feather she had saved. Inside, it smelled like warm straw and squashed strawberries.
Until one day, her zigzag stripe tickled her beak. Achoo! The shell cracked. Because of that, Pippa had to hold the top on like a hat. Because of THAT, she waddled right out, still painting dots while two butterflies flapped in surprise. “I made it myself!” she peeped. Finally, she planted her toes in the soft dirt and gave her shell-hat a proud little wiggle. If you spot the egg pieces by the flowers, can you guess which bit got the sneeze?
